Each year Ashley House provides more than $250,000 in uncompensated care. You can help by donating to Ashley House. It’s tax deductible but more importantly, it means never having to turn away a child for financial reasons.

Ashley House is a 501(c)3 charitable organization whose sole purpose is to serve children and families of children with special health care needs. Our volunteers are an important part of Ashley House and help to enhance the care of the children and families we serve.

Children receive nursing care from our highly skilled staff of dedicated and loyal RN’s, LPN’s, CNA’s, and Behavior Technicians. Ashley House staff provide all direct care while integrating growth, development and socialization into daily activities. While volunteers do not provide direct care to the children, they can help in so many other ways:

clerical Tasks & coordination

Help with clerical tasks such as filing, copying and mailings is always welcome.

Assistance with coordinating the volunteer efforts at all eight Ashley House locations is always needed. This is a great opportunity for a person with management experience to put those skills to use in a volunteer capacity.

Groups & individuals

Groups of volunteers (such as youth groups), as well as individual volunteers, have taken on projects such as yard cleanup, vehicle detailing and window washing. These one-time projects are a great option for volunteers with limited availability or who wish to put a group project together.

Befriend a child

You can make a long-term commitment to one or more children who reside at Ashley House through consistency and reliability. These volunteers will often help with homework, read stories, visit the children in the event they are hospitalized and attend important events, such as birthday parties. Volunteers that serve in this capacity must undergo the State background authorization process, provide proof of negative TB screening, and attend a volunteer orientation.

Special Events

Special events, such as fundraisers, holiday celebrations or birthday celebrations are enjoyed immensely by the children and staff of Ashley House. Volunteers can provide assistance with planning, decorating, food and gifts. For example, a local motorcycle group delivers gifts on their motorcycles, for all of the Ashley House clients in December.
