Child Engagement Specialist – Auburn Home
Auburn Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday | 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM (24 hours/week)

Ashley House Northwest provides residential care for medically fragile children and young adults. Our Child Engagement Specialists help create fun, structured activities that keep kids engaged, safe, and supported while working alongside our nursing and caregiving teams.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being active with kids — playing games, doing crafts, helping with activities, and creating a positive environment for children who benefit from structure and encouragement.
What You’ll Do
Lead crafts, games, and creative activities
Help energetic kids stay engaged and positively occupied
Encourage safe play and social interaction
Support children using structured engagement plans
Guide children through developmentally appropriate behaviors, helping them build social, emotional, and self-regulation skills
Respond calmly to behavioral challenges and redirect children toward safe, positive activities
Assist with meals, light household routines, and activity transitions
Participate in outings and recreational activities
Work closely with nurses and caregivers to maintain a safe and supportive environment
What We’re Looking For
21 years of age or older
High school diploma or equivalent
1+ year of experience working with youth OR 2 years of education in social services, education, or a related field
Valid Washington driver’s license and insurable driving record
Ability to remain patient, calm, and positive with high-energy children
CPR/BLS, First Aid, and Food Handler’s Permit (or ability to obtain)
Must meet required health screenings including TB testing, Tdap, flu, and COVID vaccinations
Compensation
Starting pay ranges from $22.78 – $33.85 per hour, in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
